Rebecca Yanovskaya’s artworks are just drop dead gorgeous and this statement should be enough for this article because the images speak for themselves. She is among those rare artists that uses drawing and gold leaf (or in her case ballpoint pen and gold leaf) and she does it with such a performance as the viewer is left in an awe of wonder. Not only that, but for an illustrator to chose a traditional technique over the digital one is again rare, thus making her artworks easy to spot and recognize.
Her drawings seem to be inspired from various mythologies, but mostly from the Christian one hence the pervasiveness of angels, demons and lost souls. Even if many other artists debated these themes into their work and thus almost transforming them into truisms of visual art there is still place for something new and Rebecca Yanovskaya has proven that every single time when she creates something.
For those out there that claim that modern art is just “garbage” and only untalented people would do it, there are thousands of examples of good artists that are even better than the so claimed “Old Masters” but not yet known to the general public.
